Märkisches Zentrum / Märkische Zeile

Märkisches Zentrum forms with Märkische Zeile shopping centre the largest shopping hub in the north of Berlin. 50,000 m2 of retail space comprising 120 retail units with car parking spaces for 700 cars,as well as two food markets. Märkisches Zentrum also provides office and medical accommodation together with a range of leisure uses. Märkisches Zentrum was opened in 1968 while Märkische Zeile (some 40 shops, management ECE) opened in 1975. The refurbishment began in 1998 and the second phase was completed in April 2002. The centre is situated in Reinickendorf with the total catchment population of over 300,000 people within a 15 minute drive time. Hammerson sold it to Dubai Investment Group for 88 M € in 2006. Kintyre Investment which acquired it in 2015, plans a complete refurbishment of the centre and a 7.000 sqm expansion. Edeka will be one of the new anchors. Completion planned in 2022.

Ausserdem finden sich im MZ Büros und medizinische Nutzungen sowie Freizeiteinrichtungen. Umbau begann 1998, die zweite Phase wurde 2002 abgeschlossen. Das Center liegt in Berlin-Reinickendorf mit einem Einzugsgebiet von 300.000 Einwohnern im 15min-Radius.
