Salzstrasse

Salzstrasse is a strongly frequented walking street. The anchors are the department stores Karstadt and Sinn Leffers. But this high street is characterised by its small shops of all categegories. Tourist attractions are completing the streetscape. Salzstrasse meets Prinzipalmarkt at the famous Lamberti church with its three cages hanging from the spire, which were once used to place criminals in. By 2013, Rossmann replaced Woolworth on some 700 sqm (transaction : Lührmann) It’s a narrow and often crowded street. There are plenty of opportunities to rest along its 455m length, as one is walking south-east towards the railway station.

Die Anker sind Karstadt und Sinn Leffers, die Strasse wird jedoch von kleinteiliger Geschäften aller Kategorien charakterisiert. Touristische Sehenswürdigkeiten runden das Strassenbild ab. Die Salzstrasse trifft an der Lambertikirche auf den Prinzipalmarkt. Am Turm dieser Kirche hängen die berühmten Käfige, in denen die Wiedertäufer gefangengehalten wurden. Es ist eine enge und stark frequentierte Gasse, die zum Bahnhof führt.
