Frankfurt is a significant international financial site and an important transport hub with a major airport and high volumes of rail traffic, as well as being an important commercial and trade fair site. Its economic power is among the strongest in Europe. The retail structure is concentrated on the Zeil, which is one of the busiest streets with the highest retail turnover in Europe. Major centres outside Frankfurt such as the Main-Taunus centre and the NordWestzentrum have recently been refurbished and enlarged. These centres steal a great deal of purchasing volume from locations on the city's periphery. New centres such as Casarena Camp Eschborn which is located to the north of Frankfurt increase the range of centres yet more. The international airport has become a strong retail site. The attraction of the inner city has been recently reinforced with the opening of MyZeil shopping centre.
Frankfurt Region ist der geographische Mittelpunkt Europas. Die Wirtschaftskraft zählt zu den stärksten Europas. Frankfurt ist ein bedeutender internationaler Finanzplatz und wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt mit Großflughafen und starkem Zugreiseverkehr, sowie ein bedeutender Handels-, Messe und Konferenzplatz. Die Einzelhandelsstruktur in Frankfurt konzentriert sich auf die Zeil, als eine der umsatz- und frequenzstärksten Strassen Europas. Starke Zentren außerhalb wie das Main Taunus Zentrum und das NordWestzentrum sind neu saniert und erweitert. Diese Zentren nehmen den Cityrandlagen viel Kaufkraft. Neue Zentren wie das nördlich von Frankfurt gelegene Casarena Camp Eschborn erweitern das Angebot noch mehr. Auch der internationale Airport ist zu einem starken Einzelhandelsplatz geworden. Die Attraktivität der Innenstadt hat durch das neues MyZeil EKZ gefördert.
